Island Express Air was a Canadian airline operating domestic flights in Canada and around British Columbia. The airline was founded in 2007 and since then, it developed its fleet from operating one aircraft to ten aircraft. These aircraft were serving destinations including Abbotsford, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Qualicum Beach, Victoria and Tofino. They operated scheduled flights as well as charter flights.
The airline had a fleet of Beechcraft King Air 100, Piper PA-28 Cherokee, Piper PA-31 Navajo and Piper PA-32 aircraft, which are all turboprop aircraft.
Passengers were entitled to one free carry-on baggage and one free personal item onboard. The carry-on baggage cannot exceed 21.5" x 15.5" x 9" and the combined weight of both items cannot exceed 30lbs. Any excess weight was needed to be paid for upon check-in.
No prohibited items were allowed onboard including any fluid exceeding 100ml.
The airline doesn't provide any free checked baggage allowance but passengers can buy checked baggage allowance when booking with Alternative Airlines. Additional baggage purchased cannot exceed 40 lbs (18kg) in weight and it cannot be oversized.
Any baggage exceeding 40lbs would be charged extra and no baggage exceeding 70lbs (32 kg) wouldn't be accepted by the airline due to international Health and Safety regulations.
No online check-in services are available for passengers, but the airline will send an electronic boarding pass via email approximately one hour before departure. Please ensure the travller's email address is correct.
Airport check-in counters opened 45 minutes before and closed 30 minutes before the established flight departure time. Failure to comply with these rules would risk losing their ticket(s).
All passengers over 12 years of age were required to bring valid photo identification when travelling, but all passengers were advised to bring valid identification when travelling.
The airline flew to six destinations in Canada including Abbotsford, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Qualicum Beach, Victoria and season flights to Tofino. Also, check out our Domestic Canadian Flights page if you are looking to travel to other Canadian destinations.
