Founded in 2018, Uganda Airlines is the national flag carrier of Uganda. This airline is based at Entebbe / Kampala International Airport (EBB), from where it flies to destinations across East Africa.
The airline was founded as a revival of the old Uganda Airlines, which flew between 1976–2001. It launched flights in August 2019 with a flight from Entebbe to Jomo Kenyatta International and rolled out other flights to build its route network shortly after. The airline operates scheduled passenger flights across East Africa and to the Middle East.
You can easily reach Uganda by flying with Uganda Airlines and many other airlines that we ticket at Alternative Airlines. Take a look at our guide on booking flights to Uganda for more information, including recommended routes, airlines and places to visit in the country.

Any item exceeding the dimensions above must be transported as checked baggage and a fee may apply. Personal items could be items such as a purse, a briefcase, a camera, or a laptop bag. Please don't pack any prohibited items in your carry-on baggage including liquids over 100ml. Any prohibited items found by airport security will be removed and disposed of.
Passengers in Economy class are entitled to two items of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg / 51 lbs per bag.
In Business Class and First Class, passengers are entitled to two items of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 32 kg / 70 lbs per bag.
Uganda Airlines has 2 cabin classes - Economy and Business class.
The Economy Class cabin offers a simple but comfortable flight experience.
Passengers can enjoy a range of food and drink once in-flight, with complimentary bar service.
Seats are set out in a 2 x 2 formation or a 3 x 3 x 3 formation on the new Airbus A330-800 neo. Seats have adjustable headrests, personal lighting, and air-con. There is space in the seat pocket, under the seat, and in the overhead lockers for storage.
The airline doesn't have a dedicated premium class package, however, it does offer an upgrade on Economy seating, called 'Economy Space'. By selecting this upgrade, passengers can enjoy extra space.
While Uganda Airlines doesn't have a separate section of the cabin for passengers who have upgraded to Economy Space, these seats, which are still within the Economy cabin, offer extra legroom and personal space.
Business Class is Uganda Airlines' best level of cabin class. The Business Class experience has a range of benefits from the moment that you arrive at the airport to when you land.
Passengers are given priority boarding, access to the business class lounges on all flights and an additional piece of carry-on baggage.
On flights from Entebbe, passengers will be escorted through the check-in process, airport and boarding process by a personal porter.
Once in flight, passengers can enjoy food and drink served on china plates, real cutlery and drinks served in glasses.
Business Class seats are situated at the front of the main cabin and are set out in a 1 x 2 formation, giving extra legroom to each passenger.
Uganda Airlines offers its passengers online check-in and airport.
Passengers can check in online on the Uganda Airlines online check-in page. From here, passengers must select the online check-in tab and enter their PNR and name in the relevant fields.
Online check-in is available from 48 or 72 hours before the scheduled departure time. Once this is completed, passengers will be able to get their boarding passes. We recommend that you check in online in order to avoid long queues at the airport.
Passengers that choose to check in at the airport can do so by visiting the Uganda Airlines check-in desk at the airport of departure. The airline recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least four hours before the scheduled flight departure time if checking in online. This will allow time for check-in, baggage drop and pass-through security.
The airline does not currently offer a frequent flyer program.
The airline is not currently part of an airline alliance program.
The airline can provide a number of special services for those with disabilities or requiring additional assistance. Requests can be made during the booking process, or by contacting customer services at least 48 hours before departure.
For passengers who require wheelchairs, all the airline’s aircraft are equipped with onboard wheelchairs to assist passengers in moving throughout the cabin. Cabin crew can also provide assistance moving within the aircraft cabin, including assistance in the use of an inflight wheelchair to and from the lavatory door. If you require wheelchair assistance please, contact Alternative Airlines. We will inform Uganda Airlines and let them know that you or a member of your party requires wheelchair service and provide you with any additional information you may need.
Uganda Airlines' main priority is keeping its passengers safe. For pregnancies at 28 weeks or earlier you can book Uganda Airlines flight tickets as usual but you're expected to show a doctor's certificate proving that you are fit to travel.
Expectant mothers 28+ weeks will need to fill out a medical form (MEDIF) during check-in or just before boarding onto the aircraft.
Uganda Airlines advises that expectant mothers shouldn't be travelling after the 32nd week of an uncomplicated multiple pregnancy and the 36th week of an uncomplicated single pregnancy.
As of 2022, the airline flies to destinations across East Africa and the Middle East, including Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates. Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is an international airport in Uganda. It is located close to Lake Victoria, in Entebbe, Uganda. This airport was built in 1951 and is the main airport for international traffic. In 2015, the airport announced expansion and modernisation plans for the airport to begin in 2015, lasting until 2035. The expansion will consist of three phases, including expanding the existing cargo terminal, building a new passenger terminal and strengthening the existing runways.
The airport is currently the hub for Eagle Air and Kush Air Uganda, but also operates services for a number of airlines such as flydubai, KLM, South African Airways, EgyptAir, Auric Air, Air Tanzania and also a large number of cargo airlines.
The airline operated regional services out of its Ugandan base initially using CRJ-900s, however, within its first year of flying, Uganda Airlines upgraded its fleet with orders of Airbus A330-800 neo, as well as keeping its current CRJ-900s.
The Airbus A330-800 neo will be used in the airline's future plans to expand its long-haul international destinations.
