Surcar Airlines is a proposed Spanish domestic airline that aims to begin services from Autumn 2022. The airline is planning on operating services between the capitals of the Canary Islands. Surcar Airlines hopes to bring cohesion to the area through reinstating seaplane services, something that hasn't been an option since the 1950s. It is proposed that Surcar Airlines will cater to a niche business traveller demographic on weekdays who prioritise time and efficiency over price and during the weekend tourists. Although the majority of its capital and ownership is canary based, the airline has a partnership with Danish airline Nordic Seaplanes. The airline states that by offering seaplane services as an option for passengers it will help connection times between the islands while also seeing a 30% decrease in carbon emissions compared to traditional air travel between the islands.
Surcar hasn't announced any information about its carry-on and checked baggage policies.
Surcar Airlines hasn't yet published its baggage policy. However, it is likely that you will be entitled to bring 1 small personal item onboard with you, which should go under the seat in front of you.
As the airline is still yet to formally begin operations and launch a reservations website, it is unknown if checked luggage will be included in your ticket as standard or if this will come at an additional cost.
Surcar Airlines plans on operating a fleet of small, regional DHC-6-300 seaplane aircraft. This means that the aircraft will be too small to have a dual-class cabin installed. Therefore, it is assumed that a standard economy class seat will be offered similar to that of other seaplane airlines. As the airline aims to target business travellers, a heightened service offering may be provided with complimentary drinks or snacks, however, this remains unsure as the airline is yet to announce its intended service levels.
It is not expected that the airline will offer inflight entertainment or wifi onboard its aircraft as the intended aircraft will be small regional planes. The airline may provide inflight reading materials, however, we recommend bringing your own forms of entertainment for your flight.
It is currently unknown if the airline will offer complimentary drinks and snacks onboard its flights. It is unlikely that a buy onboard service will be offered due to the size of the aircraft. However, more information will be provided upon the airline's launch of services.
Surcar Airlines hasn't announced any information about its check-in policy, including check-in closing and opening times.
It is currently unknown if the airline will offer online check-in facilities as the airline hasn't yet formally launched or launched an e-commerce reservations website.
As the airline hasn't yet begun services the service level for airport check-in is currently unknown. The airline may offer a similar service to other seaplane airlines such as Nordic Seaplanes or Harbour Air.
As the airline is still in its infancy and hasn't yet begun operations it is unsure if they will offer a frequent flyer program for you to subscribe to.
Surcar airlines are not currently part of any airline alliance, this could change once the airline begins operating services. The airline does however have strong links with Nordic Seaplanes as they will act as an investor for the airline.
