Equair is a new domestic airline based at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Ecuador. They commenced operations in January 2022, serving domestic routes.
It's one of the first airlines, the other being Ecuatoriana Airlines, to launch after the collapse of TAME EP
Equair has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage policy.
A backpack, purse or baby diaper bag is classified as a personal item.
The personal item must be able to fit under the front seat or be a disturbance to other passengers. It can not exceed the measurements of 45cm x 35cm x 25cm (Height, Length, Width).

Equair passengers can check-in using their online check-in system or at the airport.
The airline does provide online check in, so passengers can check-in before they arrive at the airport.
At Alternative Airlines, we advise you to arrive at the airport 2 hours before for domestic flights and 3 hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights. This is to avoid any disruption causing any delays to your journey and missing the airport check-in deadline.
Under the following circumstances can you request special assistance - Physical, sensory or cognitive disability, reduced mobility, elderly, pregnancy, mother with baby.
If you require special assistance, please inform the airline 48 hours in advance, and this will be subject to availability. The assistance on offer includes:
If you are over 40 weeks pregnant, you will not be allowed to board the plane. If you're pregnant and between 29-39 weeks, please submit a medical certificate including your dates of travel, destination and weeks of gestation.
Children under the age of 12 will have assistance provided whilst flying. Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, have the option to this service, if they require.
This service costs $25 per route.
Please be aware - The crew onboard the Equair flights aren't permitted to supply medications or provide any special or medical assistance, so if the minor requires medical treatment or has a disability condition, this extra help will not be provided.
Equair isn't part of any airline alliances. It's unclear whether they'd be part of any global airline alliances in the future, more details will emerge if this changes.
A frequent flyer programme isn't currently available for the airline. More details will follow if this changes.
Equair serves domestic Ecuador destinations. They also fly chartered flights to the Dominican Republic and Curaçao.

Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO), also known as Quito International Airport, is located in Tababela and it's the busiest airport in Ecuador. The airport is currently serving as the hub for Avianca Ecuador and LATAM Ecuador. On average, there're around 5 million passengers that use the airport facilities every year.
Other airlines including AeroMexico, Aeroregional, American Airlines, Avianca Costa Rica, Copa Airlines, Delta, Iberia, JetBlue, KLM, United Airlines and Wingo are offering service to the airport.
Equair will be operating with a fleet of New Generation Boeing 737-700 aircraft. These are narrowbody aircraft designed to operate short to medium-haul flights with a capacity between 126-149 seats.
