Avianca Costa Rica (formerly known as LACSA) is the national carrier airline of Costa Rica, based in San José.
The airline operates international services to over 35 destinations in North, Central and South America.
In 2013, Avianca Costa Rica has become one of seven nationally branded airlines (along with Avianca Honduras, Avianca Brasil and Avianca Equador) under the Avianca Holdings group of Latin American airlines.
The airline's legal name of the airline remains OceanAir, however, it has been rebranded as Avianca since it is owned by Synergy Group, which owns Avianca Holdings.
The airline launched as LACSA but was bought out by Avianca in 2017.
The following rules apply for all pieces of bagagge, for domestic and international flights regardless of the Class in which passengers are flying:
One piece of carry-on: 55 cms of height (22 inches), 35 cms of length (14 inches) and 25 cms of width (10 inches)
Please note, the number of carry-on pieces varies depending on whether you have LifeMiles or Star Alliance status.
Economy: 1 piece weighing a maximum of 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
Business: 2 pieces weighing a maximum of 32 kg (70 lbs) each
Avianca Costa Rica currently offers two cabin classes - these are Economy Class and Business Class.
Avianca Costa Rica's Economy Class facilities provide passengers with a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience, with a range of amenities and services to enhance their journey.
Some of the facilities included in the airline's Economy Class were in-flight entertainment, complimentary meals and benefits, and access to Wi-Fi.
Avianca Costa Rica provides a wide selection of movies, TV shows and music within its in-flight entertainment system that is available to all Economy Class passengers. Seat-back screens are available for each passenger. In-flight entertainment can also be accessed via Avianca's mobile app.
Passengers can enjoy complimentary meals and drinks in Economy Class - this includes hot and cold options as well as snacks. The airline can also cater to special dietary requirements and preferences.
Seating in Avianca Costa Rica's Economy Class is designed to be comfortable with adjustable headrests and a generous amount of legroom to ensure a relaxing flight for all passengers.
Avianca Costa Rica's Business Class facilities provide passengers with a luxurious and comfortable travel experience, with a range of amenities and services to enhance their journey.
Having a Business Class fare with Avianca Costa Rica means you can enjoy priority check-in and boarding so you can breeze through the airport and reach your seats quickly and easily.
VIP lounge access is a benefit of the Business Class fare - you can relax before your flight, enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, and even use the free Wi-Fi and showers.
In-flight entertainment is available onboard in the Business Class cabin - the options provided are the same as those in Economy Class.
Passengers can enjoy gourmet meals and drinks throughout their flight - this includes hot and cold options, appetizers and desserts.
For extra comfort, passengers will receive noise-cancelling headphones, blankets and pillows as well as an amenity kit containing skincare products.
Spacious seating is provided in Avianca Costa Rica's Business Class cabin. Passengers can enjoy maximum comfort with extra legroom, wider seats and adjustable headrests as well as built-in massage features in the seats.
Online check-in for Avianca Costa Rica will open from 24 hours up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time. You can check in online for your Avianca Costa Rica flight via Avianca's official website.
If you have the Avianca app, you can check in for your Avianca Costa Rica flights through it. It's a similar process to online check-in but you'll be able to directly access your boarding pass on your mobile device.
Avianca has its own self-service kiosks available to use at the airport. You can use these to check-in for your Avianca Costa Rica flight and print your boarding pass without needing to queue for the check-in counters. These can be used from 24 hours up until 1 hour before your flight departs.
To check in at the airport, you can do so at the check-in counters dedicated to Avianca Costa Rica. Airport check-in will be open 3 hours before takeoff. It will close 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 60 minutes before departure for international flights.
Avianca Costa Rica has a frequent flyer program called Programa Amigo to reward regular passengers with Avianca Costa Rica.
