How to cancel a Virgin Atlantic flight at Alternative Airlines
Want to cancel Virgin Atlantic flights booked through Alternative Airlines? No problem! There are two ways to do this - you can cancel via the Manage My Booking portal or by contacting our Customer Service team who will be happy to help you through the Virgin Atlantic cancellation process.
1. Self-service flight cancellation via 'Manage my booking'
Using your booking reference, sign in to 'Manage My Booking'. You should see the option to make a cancellation request for your Virgin Atlantic flights. Before you confirm your cancellation, we'll show you the total amount of money you'll be refunded based on the fare rules of the airline.
- For Virgin Atlantic bookings with the Cancel For Any Reason add-on, you can activate this and cancel your flight for any reason (no questions asked), then receive a 70% refund on or after 30 days. Cancel For Any Reason will be available in the Manage My Booking portal up until 48 hours before departure.
- For Virgin Atlantic bookings with the Cancellation Protection add-on, you can request a refund if you need to cancel for emergency reasons listed in the Refund Protect terms and conditions. You can start the process by filling out the Claim Your Refund form.
Please be aware that many flight tickets are non-refundable, as per the airline's terms and conditions.

Can I get a refund for my Virgin Atlantic flight cancellation?
If you booked your Virgin Atlantic flights through Alternative Airlines and added either Cancellation Protection or Cancel For Any Reason, you can receive a full or partial refund. You are also eligible for a refund if you purchased a refundable Virgin Atlantic ticket and need to cancel.
Refundable Virgin Atlantic flights
A refundable flight ticket allows you to get a refund before departure, minus the cancellation fee. You can book refundable Virgin Atlantic flight tickets when you search for flights through Alternative Airlines. Select the Virgin Atlantic flights that suit you and confirm your selection. To see if your Virgin Atlantic flight is refundable, read the fare rules in the booking process before checkout.
Cancellation Protection
We offer Cancellation Protection in the booking journey - this entitles you to a full refund if you need to cancel Virgin Atlantic flights for emergency reasons such as illness, death, mechanical breakdowns and home emergencies. The full list of covered cancellation reasons can be found in the Refund Protect terms and conditions. You can activate Cancellation Protection via the Manage My Booking portal.
Cancel For Any Reason
We also offer Cancel For Any Reason cover in the booking journey. This allows you to cancel your Virgin Atlantic flights for any reason and get 70% of your money back in 30 days, no questions asked. Cancel For Any Reason needs to be added to your booking before checkout - it will be available in Manage My Booking until 48 hours before departure.
Can you cancel a Virgin Atlantic flight within 24 hours?
Virgin Atlantic's cancellation policy states that you're eligible for a partial refund if you cancel your flight within 24 hours of purchasing your Virgin Atlantic flight ticket. This is referred to as a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you booked a Virgin Atlantic flight ticket with Alternative Airlines then you can cancel within 24 hours of your purchase, but you will need to contact us as soon as possible.
If you contact us to cancel your Virgin Atlantic flights and the 24-hour window has elapsed by the time we've received your refund request, we may not be able to honour the 24-hour cancellation policy as Virgin Atlantic won't allow us to issue the refund.
Please ensure you contact us between 9am - 8pm UK time if you wish to cancel your Virgin Atlantic booking within the 24-hour cancellation window and receive a refund.

- For Virgin Atlantic flights booked through Alternative Airlines, you can either cancel via the Manage My Booking portal or you can get in touch with our Customer Service team who can help you with the Virgin Atlantic cancellation process and any other queries you may have.

How do I request a refund for a Virgin Atlantic flight?
Get a full refund through Cancellation Protection:
Request a refund through the 'Claim Your Refund' page if you purchased Cancellation Protection during the booking process of your Virgin Atlantic flights. You'll need to prove that you were unable to fly due to emergency reasons. You can also contact us, to claim a refund.
Get a partial refund through Cancel For Any Reason:
If you purchased the Cancel For Any Reason add-on during the booking process, you can cancel for any reason in the Manage My Booking portal and get 70% of your money back in 30 days. This will only be available up until 48 hours before departure.
Get a refund from a refundable Virgin Atlantic ticket:
If you have purchased a refundable Virgin Atlantic flight and wish to cancel, you will receive a refund minus any cancellation fees to process the refund. If you have purchased a non-refundable Virgin Atlantic flight you will not be entitled to a refund.
What is Virgin Atlantic's cancellation policy?
If you cancel your Virgin Atlantic flights within 24 hours of the original booking time, you'll get a partial refund for your flight. You won't be entitled to a complete refund after the 24-hour period has passed.
For bookings made through Alternative Airlines, we advise that you cancel your Virgin Atlantic flight tickets through us during our opening hours (9am - 8pm GMT) so that we can offer a refund if you do so within Virgin Atlantic's 24-hour cancellation policy window.
If you contact us after business hours, we might not get your refund request and the 24-hour window might have passed, in which case we won't be able to honour the 24-hour refund policy.
Is Cancel For Any Reason worth it with Virgin Atlantic flights?
We think so! If your travel plans aren't solid and are likely to change, we recommend adding the Cancel For Any Reason cover during the booking journey for your Virgin Atlantic flights. This means you'll get 70% of your money back, no questions asked, if you need to cancel for literally any reason. Your refund should be with you in 30 days.
Please note that Cancel For Any Reason can be activated at any time after booking until 48 hours before departure.
