Your wedding day should be one of the best days of your life, and saying ‘I do’ in your dream location is the best way to ensure just that.
From small intimate weddings abroad to wild receptions, we’ve compiled a list of some of the world’s most unique places to get married that will help you find the perfect wedding destination.
Lake Garda
One of the most romantic countries in the world. With great weather, colourful coastal towns and beautiful countryside, Italy is a truly outstanding place to get married.
A couple of our favourite wedding destinations in Italy are the luxuriant gardens of the cliffside town, Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast. Or the picturesque Lake Garda. Lake Garda has some fascinating castles that you and your guests can stay in. The fairytale setting is sure to make you feel like a King or Queen on your special day.
Take me to Italy: The closest airport to Lake Garda is Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN). We suggest flying into Rome on a major airline and then getting a domestic flight with Alitalia. Although, Verona Villafranca is served by a few international airlines, such as easyJet and Transavia France.
Santorini
Considered by many in Europe as the wedding destination, Santorini has the ocean vista, jaw-dropping sunsets and crisp blue skies that make the perfect stage for any big ceremony.
You can choose to get married either down on the coast or high up in the cliffs overseeing the island's famous caldera.
Take me to Santorini: You can fly into Athens on a number of major airlines. From there, you can either get a ferry to Santorini or you can get a short domestic flight to Santorini International Airport (JTR) on Ryanair or Volotea.
Las Vegas
Make your wedding as iconic as the big cities of the USA when you get married under the dazzling lights of the Las Vegas strip.
With the world’s best DJs and more pool parties than you’ll have guests, Vegas is the only choice if you’re looking for an action-packed celebration with the ones you love.
Take me to Las Vegas: The main airport in Las Vegas is McCarran International Airport (LAS). You can fly to McCarran International on airlines such as Condor, Frontier Airlines and American Airlines.
Disney World Orlando
Announce yourself as the new Mickey and Minnie with a Disney Wedding in Orlando.
If your budget allows for it, you can book through Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and get married on actual Disney grounds. Or, for a cheaper option, you can get married in the surrounding areas of Disney in Orlando and head to Disney World for celebrations after.
Take me to Orlando: Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the primary airport in Orlando. You can fly to Orlando International on airlines such as Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways and United.
The Caribbean islands are so stunning that no matter where you get married, you’re certain to be blown away.
The best thing about the Caribbean is that because of its tropical climate you’re almost always guaranteed good weather, no matter what time of the year you choose to have your wedding. As an example, Barbados has around 3,000 hours of sunshine each year!
Take me to the Caribbean: Although it will depend on where in the Caribbean you’re flying to, many major airlines fly to the Caribbean. Take a look at some of these airlines that fly to the Caribbean — KLM, Iberia and Air Canada.
Stellenbosch
With marvellous mountain ranges and verdant green vineyards, the Cape Winelands make an idyllic wedding setting.
The Cape Winelands area is no stranger to hosting weddings either. You’ll be spoilt for choice with all the different venues that boast gorgeous panoramic views of the South African vineyards.
Take me to the Cape Winelands: The nearest major airport to the Cape Winelands is Cape Town International Airport (CPT). This can be reached on airlines such as Emirates, British Airways and FlySafair.
Mauritius
Fancy getting married on your own private island? In Mauritius, if you pick the right hotel, you can do just that!
Hotels such as Zilwa Attitude provide a beautifully intimate wedding experience for just you and and your family and friends.
Take me to Mauritius: The main airport in Mauritius is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU). Airlines that fly here include Air Mauritius and Air France.
Safari lodge in Tanzania
While there are plenty of gorgeous beach opportunities in Tanzania. If you’re looking for an alternative wedding, why not get married on a safari?
With only your loved ones and the Massai Mara wildlife in attendance, getting married on safari in Tanzania makes for a truly unique wedding.
And, once you’ve celebrated your wedding, you can head to the white sand beaches of Zanzibar for your honeymoon.
Take me to Zanzibar: You can reach Dar es Salaam on many major airlines, including Air Tanzania and Precision Air. From there, you can get a domestic flight to Zanzibar’s main airport, Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), on airlines such as ZanAir, Oman Air and Coastal Aviation.
Blue Mountains, Australia
There are countless wedding venues within the iconic Blue Mountain area, from viewpoints looking out over the amazing scenery of the country to beautiful botanical gardens.
There’s no better place in the world to tie the knot than high up in the clouds at one of Australia’s natural beauties.
Take me to the Blue Mountains: The closest airport to the Blue Mountains is Sydney Airport (SYD). Sydney Airport can be reached by Qantas, Jetstar Airways and Scoot.
Boracay
When it comes to beach weddings, they don’t come much better than marrying in Boracay.
With waves lapping calmly on the golden shore, a wedding in Boracay is the romantic paradise that you’ve always dreamed of.
Take me to Boracay: There are no airports on Boracay island. Instead, you’ll have to fly into Godofredo P.Ramos Airport (MPH) in Caticlan and take a small boat ride over to the island. You can fly to Godofredo P.Ramos Airport on airlines such as Cebu Pacific and Philippines Airlines.
Iguazu Falls, Argentina
Iguazu Falls is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the world and would be an outstanding backdrop to any wedding photo album.
The Iguazu Falls stretch across both Brazil and Argentina, but Iguazu National Park — where there are a number of great hotels to stay at — is located in Argentina.
It might go without saying, but we suggest you don’t hold the ceremony too close to the waterfall. Ceremonies tend to go a lot smoother when the bride and groom aren’t soaked in water. And even at a distance, the mist from Iguazu Falls can still get you pretty wet.
Take me to Iguazu Falls: The closest airport to the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls is Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport (IGR). If you’re travelling from outside of Argentina, we suggest flying into Buenos Aires on one of the major airlines and then getting a domestic flight to Cataratas del Iguazú on Aerolineas Argentina or Andes Lineas Aereas.
