Air Thanlwin, formerly known as Yangon Airways, is a domestic airline based at Yangon Mingaladon International Airport in Myanmar. The airline doesn't just offer scheduled services but also charter services.
Air Thanlwin was founded in 1996 in the form of Yangon Airways. Between December 2010 and October 2011, the airline suspended its operations but soon continued in the second half of October 2011.
Currently, Air Thanlwin is flying to a total of 16 destinations in Myanmar including Bagan, Heho, Mandalay, Naypyidaw, Khamti and Putao, using a fleet of ATR72.
Air Thanlwin has different baggage rules for carry-on and checked baggage.
Passengers are entitled to one piece of carry-on baggage weighing less than 5kg and it must fit in the overhead lockers and under the seat.
Carry-on baggage must not contain any prohibited items including any fluid exceeding 100ml. Any fluid must be placed in a plastic bag for security checks. Lithium batteries must be stored in the carry-on baggage and not the checked baggage.
On Air Thanlwin flights, passengers are entitled to one piece of 20kg of checked baggage. This baggage must not exceed 32kg and any kilo above the permitted 20kg would be charged extra.
Oversized items may be transported as checked baggage or cargo and additional fees would apply.
Passengers hoping to buy excess baggage can request it during our booking process or by contacting us.
Air Thanlwin offers a single class cabin on all of their aircraft. Seats are laid out in 2x2 rows and are leather upholstered seats for added comfort. All passengers are entitled to 1 checked case as well as 1 cabin bag. The airline doesn't offer inflight entertainment or complimentary drinks and snacks.
Air Thanlwin doesn't offer inflight entertainment or wifi facilities onboard its aircraft. However, they do offer an inflight magazine for you to read. However, we recommend you bring your own forms of entertainment to keep you occupied throughout your flight.
Complimentary drinks, snacks or meal service isn't provided. The airline also doesn't offer a buy onboard service so we recommend purchasing these before boarding the aircraft at the airport.
Air Thanlwin passengers must check in at the airport since the airline doesn't offer online check in.
Online check-in isn't available for the airline. All passengers must check-in at the airport.
Air Thanlwin's airport check-in counters open twin hours before and close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Passengers should report to the airline check-in counters as soon as they arrive at the airport with their travel documents.
At Alternative Airlines, we advise passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before the scheduled departure time, so it leaves sufficient time for them. The airline check-in located will be located on the departure information board. Signs and labels will be available to guide passengers to the check-in counters.
Failure to check-in on time may result in loss of fare and be refused to board.
Air Thanlwin is preparing to launch a frequent flyer programme. It will be available soon for its customers.
Air Thanlwin is a member of the 'Fly Alliance'. This alliance is shared by fellow Burmese airlines Myanmar National Airlines and Mann Yadanarpon Airlines to offer better connections across Myanmar as well as to destinations outside of the country.
