Air Congo is a proposed airline from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The airline is set to be the 2nd active national carrier of DRC, along with Congo Airways. The airline was originally supposed to launch in November 2021 but its launch was pushed back — once to December 2021 and a 2nd time to a date yet to be confirmed in 2022.
Although none of its routes have officially been announced, the airline is expected to offer domestic flights within DRC, as well as connect DRC to surrounding countries in central/southern Africa.
At this time, Air Congo's hub is still undecided. However, it's likely to be based at one of DRC's international airports Goma, Kinshasa, Kisangani or Lubumbashi. Based off the fact that Congo Airways is already based at Kinshasa's N'djili Airport, it's likely that Air Congo will be based at one of the other 3 international airports in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The airline is co-owned by the DRC government and Ethiopian carrier, Ethiopian Airlines.
Allowances for baggage are yet to be announced. However, as a national carrier, it's expected that the airline will offer a free carry-on baggage allowance on domestic flights and both a free carry-on and checked baggage allowance on international flights.
Cabin classes have not been confirmed. However, based on the fact that Air Congo will be a national carrier and that both Congo Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have a variety of different cabin classes, Air Congo is expected to have an Economy Class cabin alongside at least one other premium class (Business Class or First Class), especially on international routes.
Based on the planes that Air Congo has within its fleet, the airline has the possibility to install Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class cabins for its flights.
Congo Airways is the best alternative to Congo Airways as the country's other national carrier. Ethiopian Airlines is the 2nd best alternative to Air Congo as Air Congo is likely to operate flight to/from Addis Ababa.

The airline doesn't have a hub airport announced yet. As the airline is very likely to offer international flights, it's thought that the airline will base itself at one of the DRC's international airports. The DRC's other government-owned airline, Congo Airways, is based a N'djili Airport in Kinshasa. This makes it less likely that Air Congo will also be based at N'djilli Airport as the two airlines will not want a conflict in flights.
Because of this, it's likely that Air Congo will be based at one of the 3 following airports:
The airline has a fleet of up to 10 planes, including De-Havilland DHC-8-Q400s, Boeing B737s, and Boeing B787s.
Air Congo has not announced any of the destinations that it will fly to or from yet. The airline has stated that it wants to expand inter-African routes, so it's all but confirmed that it'll fly from one of the DRC's international airports (Goma, Kinshasa, Kisangani or Lubumbashi).
Ethiopian Airlines has also hinted that it wants Air Congo to support its flights from Addis Ababa. This suggests that the airline will most likely fly from to or from Addis Ababa as part of its route network.
