Volaris El Salvador is a new El Salvadorian airline based in San Salvador, where the airline's hub is also based. The airline is a subsidiary of Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris and joins the group as a sister airline, sharing links with the group's other airline Volaris Costa Rica. The airline operates with its own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) for El Salvador and was awarded this in 2019 when the airline began operations. Volaris hopes that through the El Salvador subsidiary, it will allow the group to expand its destinations further than Mexico and Costa Rica and into other Central and South American markets. Initially, the airline began services from San Salvador to San Pedro Sula in neighbouring Honduras as well as Cancun and Mexico City in Mexico. This allows passengers across the group to easily connect via each others hub airport onto more destinations. Passengers on Volaris El Salvador can connect via Volaris's hub in Mexico City onto a wide range of destinations. Additionally, Volaris Costa Rica already flies to San Salvador International 27 times a week as part of its normal schedule, connecting El Salvador with San Jose Juan Santamaria, Los Angeles International, Washington Dulles, Cancun, Guatemala City and JFK New York. The airline plans to offer more routes in 2022 with Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC in the pipework.
