Tucson International Airport (IATA: TUS) is a joint civil-military airport located south of Tucson, Arizona, United States. The airport is currently the second-busiest airport in Arizona, after Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. 2018 saw the airport deal with 3,617,554 total passengers and 133, 764 aircraft operations. The airport currently has no airlines hubbed here, and is not a focus city for any airline.

The first municipal airport opened in Tucson in 1919, and was the first municipally owned airport in the US. Commercial flights began in 1928 from this airport, and it was also used by the army during WWII. After a new terminal was opened in 1963, the airport was renamed to Tucson International Airport. 1985 saw the airport's terminal double in size, and the concourse was rebuilt.

Tucson Airport is located 8 miles south of downtown Tucson, in Pima County, Arizona, US.

  • Runway 12/30: This primary runway is 10,996 feet (3,352 meters) long and 150 feet (46 meters) wide, with an asphalt surface.
  • Runway 4/22: This crosswind runway measures 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) in length and 150 feet (46 meters) in width, also with an asphalt surface.


Terminals

There is only one terminal at Tucson International Airport, with three concourses A, B and C. Concourse A has 9 gates and B has 11. The terminal is shaped like a wide X, similar to that of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. There are ticketing, concessions, gates, baggage claim, passenger pickup and food, drink and shopping options across the airport terminal.

How to get to Tucson International Airport

By Road

The airport is easily accessible by road for cars, with plenty of car parking options, from hourly to daily.


By Public Transport

There are two SUNTRAN bus routes which serve the airport's designated bus stop, which operate daily services to the region. These are routes 11 and 25.


By Rental Car

Exit east from the main terminal and head to the rental car center, where you will find car rental companies such as Alamo, Budget, Hertz and National.
