Syphax Airlines has resumed commercial flight operations from June 2019. Syphax the airline has secured a new Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Tunisian civil aviation authority (Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile - DGAC) ahead of its resumption of flight operations. Scheduled flights will then begin under the Syphax brand, with services planned from Tunis, Sfax and Djerba to Algeria, France, Italy and Spain.
Syphax formerly ran between 2012 and 2015 but went into difficulties when Tunisia and Libya as countries were destabilised by the rise of Daesh.
When flying with Syphax Airlines, passengers are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage weighing no more than 8 kg and not exceeding the maximum dimensions of 55 x 35 x 25 cm.
Depending on your destination, different weight restrictions are in place for checked baggage. Passengers are allowed between 20-32 kg of checked baggage. You can take up to two pieces of checked baggage with you on flights with Syphax Airlines.
Syphax Airlines has two cabin classes - Economy and Business.
Passengers flying in Syphax Airlines' Economy class can expect a standard seating layout with comfortable seats and enough legroom. There is access to in-flight services such as meals and beverages.
If you're flying in Syphax Airlines' Business class, you can expect more spacious and comfortable seating with extra legroom. Additional benefits include priority boarding, dedicated check-in counters and a higher checked baggage allowance.
Online check-in is available for your Syphax Airlines flight. This can be done via the airline's official website or the mobile app. Online check-in will open 24 hours before departure and close 1 hour before takeoff. If you haven't selected your seats through us at Alternative Airlines, you can do so via Syphax Airlines' online check-in page.
If you're unable to check-in online or need to check in your bags, you can check in at the airport. Check-in via Syphax Airlines' dedicated check-in counters. These will open 3 hours before departure and close 45 minutes before takeoff for domestic flights. For international flights, check-in will close 1 hour before departure.
Food and drink may be offered on your flight with Syphax Airlines - this will depend on your destination and cabin class.
Economy Class passengers can enjoy a lighter meal service (such as a sandwich or a snack) alongside a complimentary drink, e.g., tea, coffee or juice.
Business Class passengers will have a wider range of meal options including hot and cold meals as well as complimentary snacks and beverages.
Depending on the length of your flight, in-flight entertainment may be provided when you fly with Syphax Airlines.
On longer flights, passengers can enjoy TV shows, movies or music on the individual seatback screens. You can even connect your portable devices to these screens. For shorter flights, it's unlikely that in-flight entertainment is provided as the aircraft being used may not have an in-flight entertainment facility.
Syphax Airlines doesn't provide Wi-Fi onboard.
Syphax Airlines has its own frequent flyer program called 'My Way'. Passengers that have a My Way membership can earn points or miles for every flight taken with Syphax Airlines. These can then be redeemed for rewards such as free flights, upgrades and other travel-related benefits.
My Way has three tiers of membership - Silver, Gold and Platinum.
To enter Silver Tier, passengers need to earn 25,000 My Way miles (or take 25 flights inside one calendar year).

Syphax Airlines, a private Tunisian airline, has successfully completed its recertification and obtained a new air operator's certificate from the Tunisian Civil Aviation Authority. The airline suspended all operations in 2015 due to the rise of terrorist attacks in Tunisia and many financial difficulties. However, it has since restarted operations with a fleet of Bombardier aircraft and has also recently acquired a B737-800, leased from Blackbird Capital, to kickstart its restart plan.
