The airport opened in the 1930s and serves cities within the United States and Europe. The airport is the 3rd busiest airport serving the state and the 5th busiest on the island of Ireland. It's a popular choice for passengers planning to travel to Ireland to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

The airport owns one runway and it is the longest runway in Ireland which is at about 3,199 metres long. The airport is located at 16.5 miles (26.6 km) west of Limerick, Republic of Ireland.

How to get to Shannon Airport

By Road

There are many taxi companies that offer taxicab services at Shannon Airport. For taxi service from the airport, head to the airport cab desk in the Arrivals Hall. It takes only 30 minutes to the Shannon centre by taxi from the city of Limerick. There are pick-up and drop-off areas at the terminals and short and long-stay multi-storey car parks you can use to park your car amongst 5,000 car park spaces at a small fee.


By Public Transport

Bus Eireann offers service between Shannon Airport and major Irish cities including Route 51 - Galway to Cork, Route X51 - Galway to Limerick, Route 343 - Limerick to Shannon to Ennis.
