Mariscal Sucre International Airport (IATA code: UIO) is a public, international airport near the city of Quito in Ecuador, and is one of the busiest airports in South America. It is otherwise known as Quinto International or just Quinto Airport. The airport serves as the largest hub for TAME, the flag carrier of Ecuador, as well as LATAM Ecuador and Avianca Ecuador.

The new airport terminal was opened in February 2013 to replace the old Mariscal Sucre International Airport.

The airport is located on the Oyambaro plain, near the town of Tababela and about 18 kilometres (11 mi) east of Quito, the largest and capital city of Ecuador.

  • Mobile Charging: Charging points are available for electronic devices in all departure lounges.
  • Showers: Available in the Salón Mitad del Mundo and Layover Stay Lounges (lounge entry fees apply).
  • Massage: Available in the international and domestic hall, as well as the VIP Lounge.

Runways and Terminals

Runways

The airport has one runway, 18/36, which is pavement the longest runway in Ecuador and Latin America, measuring 4100m in width by 13,451m in length.


Terminals

The airport has a single terminal building, with a domestic and international departures area. The main terminal is home to all of the airport's passenger services and facilities.

Level 1 is for Arrivals. International Arrivals arrive through the North door, and Domestic Arrivals arrive through the South door.

Level 2 is for Departures. Airlines that operate domestic flights from the airport use the check-in counters in hall A and the south side of hall B. Airlines that operate international flights from the airport use the counters located on the north side of hall B and halls C and D.

Mariscal Sucre International Airport is primarily served by the following airlines:

  • LATAM Airlines - Operates domestic flights to Guayaquil, Cuenca, Baltra Island (Galápagos), Coca and Manta. Also operates international flights to Bogotá, Lima, Miami and Madrid.
  • Avianca - Frequently flies to Guayaquil, Cuenca, and Manta, as well as international flights to Bogotá, San Salvador, San José, and New York.
  • Copa Airlines - Connects Quito to Panama City.
  • American Airlines - Connects Quito to Miami.
  • United Airlines - Connects Quito to Houston.
  • Delta - Connects Quito to Atlanta.

How to get to Mariscal Sucre International Airport

By Bus

Aeroservicios provides a shuttle service from Quito directly to the New Mariscal Sucre International Airport. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The airport is also connected to the public transportation system, with connections to the south and north of the city, with a single fare costing $2 USD.


By Taxi

Cooperativa de Taxis Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre and La Asociación de Cooperativas del Valle provide a 24-hour Taxi service to/from the airport.


By Car Rental

There are a number of car rental companies that can be found in the public area of the Arrivals Hall: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Localiza and Sixt.
