Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is an airport serving Bay County, Florida. It's the closest airport to Panama City and Panama City Beach and, despite being an international airport, only handles flights from airlines travelling domestically to southern and eastern parts of the US.

There are currently no airlines that use Northwest Florida Beaches International as a hub airport.

The airport opened in 2010 under the name Northwest Florida–Panama City International Airport, but it was soon renamed Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport at the request of the public and figures in the aviation industry.

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is located northwest of Panama City. It takes between 30–60 minutes to drive to Florida Beaches Airport from Panama City and 20–40 minutes to drive to Florida Beaches International from Panama City Beach, depending on traffic

Runways and Terminals

Runway 16/34 is the only runway at the airport and is used for all flights arriving and departing. However, plans have been discussed to build an additional runway that will run parallel to the existing runway if air traffic increases.

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport has one terminal building. The building has seven gates altogether. Despite there being no international flights from the terminal since it opened, it has a US Customs and Border Control Protection area should it begin to facilitate flights from international destinations in the future.

Northwest Florida Beaches International is primarily served by the following airlines:

  • American Airlines - Seasonally flies from Charlotte, Dallas and Washington to Panama City.
  • American Eagle - Operates frequent flights to Charlotte, Dallas and Washington to Panama City. Also seasonally flies to Chicago and Philadelphia.
  • Delta - Connects Atlanta to Panama City.
  • Delta Connection - Offers direct flights to Austin from Panama City.
  • Southwest Airlines - Frequently flies to Dallas, Houston, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis.
  • United Express - Regularly flies to Houston, Chicago and Denver from Panama City.

How to get to Northwest Florida Beaches International

By driving

Parking and car rental are both available at the airport. From Panama City, the airport can be reached off Road 77 north toward Lynn Haven and Southport. From there, take State Highway 388 and follow signs to the airport.


By taxi

Taxis can be pre-booked via phone or online.

Alternatively, you can use taxi apps such as Uber and Lyft to drive to travel to the airport.
