The airport opened in 1937 and serves cities within the United States. The airport has an area of 2,250 acres and owns two runways.

The airport is the focus city for Allegiant Air which operated flights for 417,000 passengers from May 2018 to April 2019.

  • Runway 5R/23L - This runway measures 9,000 feet (2,743 metres) in length and 150 feet (46 meters) in width, featuring an asphalt surface.

Main Terminal

McGhee Tyson Airport has two levels. The top level can be accessed through the drop-off and the parking garage. It also has ticket counters, security, gates, restaurants and shops. It's designed as a Smoky Mountain theme with faux waterfalls and wood carvings of bears. The bottom level is used for two baggage claims, car rental counters, and airline and airport offices.
