Long Island MacArthur Airport is an airport located in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, New York. The airport is currently owned by the town of Islip, which currently service around 2 million commercial passengers a year.

The airport was first built between 1942 and 1944, where it was called Islip Airport and consisted of three runways and an airport hangar. Soon after, the airport was renamed to MacArthur Airport. It wasn't until 1949 that the first passenger terminal was built, facilitating the airport for commercial passenger services which began in 1960.

The airport is located 60 miles east of Manhattan, and 72 miles west of Montauk Point. It is located on the island of Long Island, in New York, USA.

  • Runway 15R/33L – 5,186 feet
  • Runway 10/28 – 5,034 feet
  • Runway 15L/33R – 3,175 feet, mainly for general aviation

Main Terminal

There is currently only one terminal at this airport, which operates flights for all airlines out of this airport. There are two concourses in this terminal. Concourse A has 9 gates and concourse B has two gates.

By Road

The airport is a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Manhattan and can be accessed via the I-495 or I-95.


By Public Transport

There are multiple us routes that connect the airport to New York City and to the Hamptons. There is a train station a mile north of the airport called Ronkonkoma Station, which connects the area to New York City.
