Long Beach Airport (IATA code: LGB) is a public airport downtown from Long Beach, in Los Angeles County, California, USA.

Over 260,500 operate to/from the airport each year. As well as commercial flights, LGB supports other operations, including Corporate jets and charter flights, flight schools, air cargo, Civil Air Patrol, experimental aircraft and vintage aircraft, law enforcement and rescue, and military and government aircraft.

Five commercial air carriers serve LGB: American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines.

Long Beach Airport was founded in 1923 by Earl Daugherty, Long Beach’s pioneer aviator.

Facilities include:

  • Restaurants and Food - The airport is home to a number of eateries, primarily airside. It is worth noting that these services close during the night; vending machines provide snacks and drinks during these hours.

    North Concourse: 4th Street Vine Wine & Beer Bar, a quaint version of its namesake in Long Beach; Taco Beach Cantina, serving tacos, burritos and margaritas; McKenna's Burger Bar, the famous U.S. burger bar; George's Greek Cafe, serving authentic Greek cuisine; and Polly's Coffee & Sweet Jill's Bakery, a gourmet coffee store.

    South Concourse: Boathouse on the Bay, a sit-down restaurant serving steak, seafood, sandwiches and more; and Polly's Coffee & Sweet Jill's Bakery, a gourmet coffee store.

    Historic Terminal: Little Brass Café, serving gourmet coffee, paninis, sandwiches and artisan baked goods.
  • Shopping - Long Beach News, located on the first floor of the Historic Terminal, offering snacks, the latest copy of top magazines and great gift items. There are also concession stands selling small gifts and magazines etc throughout the airport.
  • Wi-Fi- Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal buildings.
  • Charging Ports - Mobile charging ports can be found Airside near Gates 2, 4 and 8.
  • Baby Care Facilities - Baby care rooms are available both Landside, next to the Ladies restroom facilities, and Airside, next to Gate 2.
  • ATM Machines - ATMs are available, located Landside, near the check-in, and Airside, across from Gate 8.

  • There are no lounges at LGB airport.
Airport runway

Runways and Terminals

LGB has three asphalt runways: 12/30, 8L/26R and 8R/26L. The main runway (which is 10,000 feet) can accommodate the largest aircraft in the world. The airport also has 6 helipads.

Long Beach Airport has one small Art Deco-style terminal, which was renovated in 2013. The gates at Long Beach Airport are divided into two Concourses: North and South, with eleven gates in total. Gates 1-4 are in the South Concourse and gates 5-11 in the North.

  • North Concourse: the larger of the two concourses, and occupied by American Airlines, JetBlue, and Hawaiian Airlines.
  • South Concourse: occupied by Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines

Terminal Design: It is worth noting that the Long Beach Airport Terminal, built in 1941, is recognised as a masterpiece of the early modern style, with innovative mosaic murals throughout the terminal buildings.

Long Beach Airport is served by the following airlines:

  • Delta - operates direct flights from Salt Lake City to Long Beach.
  • Hawaiian Airlines - connects Honolulu and Kahului in Hawaii to Long Beach.
  • Southwest Airlines - flies to many US cities from Long Beach including Albuquerque, Austin, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Nashville, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, St. Louis, New Orleans and many more.

How to get to Long Beach Airport

By Bus

Long Beach Transit Bus Routes 102, 104 and 111 serve the airport. The airport also offers a free holiday connection, which is available approximately mid-November to the 1st week of January, which goes from the airport to the Metro Blue Line at Wardlow Station.


By Shuttle

Many hotels in the area offer a complimentary shuttle service to/from the airport.


By Taxi

A taxi can be picked up from the ground transportation area of the airport terminal. All taxis are metered and operate 24 hours.


By Car Rental

Car rentals are can be picked up in the Airport Ground Transportation Center, which is located across from the main airport terminal. Car rental agencies include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National/Alamo.
