The Jetconnect company is headquartered in Auckland, in New Zealand, but as the company no longer operates as an airline, it does not have a hub airport. The airline does still employ staff on behalf of Qantas, which has a hub at Sydney Airport in Australia.
Sydney Airport is the major airport serving Sydney, and is the hub airport for a number of domestic and airlines in Australia, including: Qantas, Jetstar Airways, Regional Express Airlines, Virgin Australia and Tigerair Australia.
The following airlines operate flights to and between Australia and New Zealand:
Jetconnect has previously operated the following Boeing 737 aircraft: Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, and the Boeing 737-800. However, in 2018, Jetconnect transferred its previous fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft back to Qantas, and ceased to operate as an airline.
When the company was first established as an airline, Jetconnect operated domestic services within New Zealand. Domestic services included routes between Auckland, Wellington, Rotorua, Christchurch and Queenstown. However, in 2009 these domestic services were taken over by Jetstar Airways, which is another Qantas Group subsidiary airline.
Jetconnect then began operating the trans-tasman services between New Zealand and Australia under the Qantas brand.
Today, the airline no longer operates as an airline, although it does still employ pilots and cabin crew to operate the trans-tasman services for Qantas. Jetconnect’s pilots and cabin crew operate the majority of Qantas-marketed flights between cities in New Zealand (Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Queenstown) and following destinations in Australia: Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
