Hunan Airlines is an airline that offers domestic flights within China, flying from the Hunan province. The airline has two names — a Chinese name, 湖南航空公司, which translates to 'Hunan Airlines' and an English language name, Air Travel. The name Hunan Airlines translates directly from 湖南航空公司.
The airline is based at Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX) and flies to more than 20 destinations across China. The airline covers destinations in 13 of China's provinces and is one of the top choices for flights to and from the Hunan province.
Hunan Airlines (湖南航空公司) originally launched with the name 红土航空 (translating to red soil). However, when it moved its base to Changsha, Hunan in 2021, the airline rebranded to Hunan Airlines (湖南航空公司) to reflect the move.
The airline is currently the commercial scheduled airline based at Changsha Huanghua International.
Baggage Policy

Carry-on Baggage
Each passenger is given a free carry-on baggage allowance of 10 kg. This baggage allowance is limited to 1 per person and cannot exceed the dimensions of 20 cm (7.8") x 40 cm (15.7") x 55 cm (21.6").
Checked Baggage
The baggage allowance that each passenger is given will depend on the cabin class that they're flying in.
Economy Class: passengers are given 20 kg as their free checked baggage allowance.
Business Class: passengers are given 30 kg as their free checked baggage allowance.
First Class: passengers are given 40 kg as their free checked baggage allowance.
*No one piece of baggage can weigh more than 50 kg on domestic flights.
**No one piece of baggage can weigh more than 32 kg on domestic flights that connect to an international flight.
Cabin Classes
Hunan Airlines flies with 3 different cabin classes. Giving an option for all passengers, no matter how they want to travel.
For passengers that are only interested in getting from point to point, with little added extras, the airline has an Economy Class cabin.
For passengers that are looking for added amenities and a higher standard of service, Business Class is a great option.
For passengers that want to fly in the lap of luxury and treat themselves to the best service that the airline offers, First Class is the most luxurious cabin class that the airline offers.
In-Flight Entertainment & WIFI
For entertainment, the airline has an in-flight magazine that each passenger is given to read during the flight.
There's no in-flight entertainment system or WIFI on board the flight.
Food & Drink
Hunan Airlines offers a range of food and drink, all inspired by Chinese cuisine.
Passengers might have an in-flight meal included in the price of their ticket, depending on the route flown and the ticket purchased. For those that don't, in-flight meals are available to buy as an add-on.
For passengers that don't want something as substantial as an in-flight meal but would still like something to eat or drink during the flight, the airline serves a range of light refreshments and beverages that are available to purchase in-flight.

Honghu Club
The Honghu Club (鸿鹄会) is the frequent flyer program for Hunan Airlines. The program allows passengers to earn miles for each flight that they take with the airlines and use those miles to spend on flights from the airline in the future.
In addition to this, Honghu Club members are also given a range of other benefits, such as increased baggage allowances, priority check-in and boarding and more.

Hub Airport
Changsha Huanghua International Airport
Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX) is the main airport in the Hunan province of China and the hub airport for Hunan Airlines. The airline has used the airport as its hub since it rebranded to Hunan Airlines (湖南航空公司) in 2020 and moved to the airport. Its previous base was at Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG). Changsha airport itself has 2 runways and 2 terminal buildings.
Typically, Hunan Airlines flies in and out of Terminal 2.
Other than Hunan Airlines, no other airlines are based at Changsha International, although, several airlines use the airport, including Qingdao Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Thai Smile, Malindo Air, Joy Air, GX Airlines, Donghai Airlines, China Southern, AirAsia X and more.
