Harrisburg International Airport (IATA: MDT) is an airport located in Middletown, Pennsylvania and used by the public. The airport code is MDT, which refers to the town it is located in: Middletown. It is owned by Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority. In 2017, the airport served 1,137,000 passengers, over 47,289 aircraft.

The airport was originally owned and run by the U.S. Army from 1988. It wasn't until 1973 that the airport was renamed to its current 'Harrisburg International Airport' and the new terminals were completed.

Harrisburg International Airport is located 15km southeast of Harrisburg, in a town called Middletown in Pennsylvania.

Harrisburg International Airport features a single runway - runway 13/31. This runway is 10,001 feet (3,048 meters) long and 200 feet (61 meters) wide, with an asphalt surface. The runway is equipped with precision instrument markings and lighting systems to support various aircraft operations.


The Main Terminal

There is one terminal building which was built in 2004. There are 12 gates positioned in a pier finger layout in the middle of the airfield, parallel to the runway.

By Road

Harrisburg International Airport is easily reached by the Interstates 83 and 283. Follow signs to the airport.


By Public Transport

The Capital Area Transit System Route 7 provides transport to and from the airport during weekdays. There is also Middletown Amtrak Train Station 2 miles away from the airport, located on the Keystone line.


By Rental Car

From the ground floor of the transportation centre in the terminal, you can hire cars with a number of companies including Alamo, Hertz, National, Avis and Enterprise.
