Golden Triangle Regional Airport (IATA code: GTR) is a public airport in Lowndes County, Mississippi, in the United States.

Commercial operations at GTR are run by one carrier, Express Jet, which is operated by Delta Connection. Other operations at the airport include private charter flights and military aviation.

The airport is located about midway between the cities of Starkville, Columbus, and West Point, and serves the greater Golden Triangle region of Mississippi, as well as parts of West Alabama.

Travel Information

For domestic flights, travellers are advised to arrive at the airport 1 hour prior to scheduled departure, and 1½ hours prior to your flight’s scheduled departure for international destinations. Airline ticket counters close 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Airport runway

Runways and Terminals

The airport has one runway, 18/36, which has an asphalt surface measuring 8,002 by 150 feet (2,439 x 46 m). In 2003, the runway was repaved and strengthened to support larger commercial aircraft up to a Boeing 757. In the same year, a new air traffic control tower was also opened.


There is one terminal building. The GTR airport terminal offers comfortable seating with flat-screen televisions. A 6,000-square-foot expansion was completed in 2010, expanding the post-screening waiting area and providing 150 seats, vending machines and restroom facilities.

Only one carrier, Delta Connection, currently offers commercial flights to/from the GTR.

Delta Connection is the regional airline brand name for American airline Delta Airlines.

Delta Connection flies from GTR to Atlanta, where it has its largest Hub.

How to get to Golden Triangle Regional Airport

There is a free shuttle service to and from Starkville. The GTRA Express provides a free service for all Monday - Sunday Arrivals & Departures. The schedule will shift based on actual flight arrival times. More information can be found here.


By Car

Golden Triangle Regional Airport has parking located next to the terminal building.

  • Directions from Columbus: Follow the US Highway 82 West 8.7 miles to Airport Rd. (MS Hwy. 791). Turn left (south) and go 2.2 miles to the airport terminal.
  • Directions from Starkville: Follow the US Highway 82 East 10.5 miles to Airport Rd. (MS Hwy. 791). Turn right (south) and go 2.2 miles to the airport terminal.
  • Directions from West Point: Follow the US Highway 45 Alternate South 8.5 miles to US Hwy. 82. Turn left (east) and go 4 miles to Airport Rd. (MS Hwy. 791). Turn right (south) and go 2.2 miles to the airport terminal.


By Car Rental

There are three car rental companies with counters in the terminal building, near baggage claim. These companies are Avis, Hertz and Enterprise.
