The airport has a single asphalt runway (09/27, length: 1.8km). The runway intersects the Winston Churchill Avenue road, and traffic on the road is closed during each takeoff and landing on the runway.
There is one terminal at Gibraltar International, replacing the Old Terminal which was demolished in 2014.
The New Terminal
The terminal building which stands today is dubbed The New Terminal, as it replaces the previous terminal building. The new terminal was constructed to meet demand from an increasing number of passengers. The new terminal building at Gibraltar International has been operational since 2011, with flight arrivals only. Departures started operating from the airport in 2012.
The terminal building is spacious and bright with large glass windows to allow in lots of natural light. The two-storey building offers passengers with world-class standard facilities, including 16 check-in gates, and a modern departure lounge and an arrival facilities.
The terminal has two two baggage carousels and three departure gates. A new general aviation area has also been recently completed inside the terminal to handle private aircraft.
