Book Flights to Gibraltar International Airport

Gibraltar International Airport (IATA code: GIB) is a civilian airport serving Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland on Spain's south coast. Gibraltar International Airport is only 400 metres from Gibraltar's city centre.

EasyJet operates seven weekly flights to London Gatwick, three flights per week to Bristol Airport and two flights a week to Manchester Airport.

British Airways operates nine weekly flights to London Heathrow.

Royal Air Maroc Express operates two weekly flights to Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport, which continues to Casablanca Airport.

As well as serving those travelling to Gibraltar, the airport is just a two-minute walk to the Spanish border and is also used by those travelling to parts of southern Spain, such as the Costa del Sol or the Campo de Gibraltar.

Eating

  • There are two eating options:
  • Landside: Victoria Lounge, located in the Main Hall, serves meals and snacks.
  • Departure Airside: 36 Degrees North, located in the departures air terminal, serves sandwiches, hot pies, pastries, and snacks.
  • Snacks can also be picked up from WHSmith.

Shopping

  • Departures Airside: The airport offers duty free store, featuring 'Memories of Gibraltar' souvenirs and a Sunglasses Boutique. There is also a WHSmith.

Information Desk

  • The Airport Information Desk is located on the ground floor in the main concourse area.

Wi-Fi

  • Gibraltar International Airport offers complimentary Wi-Fi to all visitors to the terminal.

Charging Points

  • There are charging units located next to gates 1, 2 and 3 in the departure lounge area to charge electrical devices.

ATMs

  • There are two cash machines available, one Landside and one Airside. Both machines dispense both Sterling or Euro notes.

Prayer Room

  • The inter-faith prayer room is located after security in the main departure lounge area.

Postal Services

  • There is a post box opposite the main check-in area next to the airline information desks, and an additional post box just outside the terminal building. Only letters are accepted.

The Calpe Lounge

Access via an entrance fee of £20.00, which can be paid at the reception lounge. Enjoy unlimited complimentary snacks and drinks including sandwiches, salads and a selection of alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages from your private bar. Free Wi-Fi and exclusive access to a lovely terrace with outstanding Rock views.

Airport runway

Runways and Terminals

The airport has a single asphalt runway (09/27, length: 1.8km). The runway intersects the Winston Churchill Avenue road, and traffic on the road is closed during each takeoff and landing on the runway.

There is one terminal at Gibraltar International, replacing the Old Terminal which was demolished in 2014.


The New Terminal

The terminal building which stands today is dubbed The New Terminal, as it replaces the previous terminal building. The new terminal was constructed to meet demand from an increasing number of passengers. The new terminal building at Gibraltar International has been operational since 2011, with flight arrivals only. Departures started operating from the airport in 2012.

The terminal building is spacious and bright with large glass windows to allow in lots of natural light. The two-storey building offers passengers with world-class standard facilities, including 16 check-in gates, and a modern departure lounge and an arrival facilities.

The terminal has two two baggage carousels and three departure gates. A new general aviation area has also been recently completed inside the terminal to handle private aircraft.

Airlines that fly to Gibraltar International Airport

Gibraltar International Airport is primarily served by two airlines:

  • British Airways - Operating flights to and from London Heathrow Airport.
  • easyJet - Offering services connecting Gibraltar with London Gatwick, Manchester, and Bristol.

Additionally, easyJet has announced plans to commence a new route from Birmingham to Gibraltar starting on June 1, 2025.

How to get to Gibraltar International Airport

By Bus

Passengers can catch service no. 5, from Market Place to the Airport. At Market Place connections can be made to all other bus services in Gibraltar. The bus stand (Airport/Frontier) is located on Winston Churchill Avenue, just a two-minute walk from the terminal.


By Car

Gibraltar Airport is easily accessible from all parts of Gibraltar. Follow the signs for Airport/Spain; the terminal is on British Lines Road just off Winston Churchill Avenue.

For dropping off, Gibraltar International Airport provides a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for customers wishing to drop off passengers for a flight. This zone is just in front of the main terminal building. There is also a short-stay (2 hours max) car park is located directly in front of the terminal building.


By Taxi

There is a taxi stand outside the Airport Terminal.
