FlyNamibia is a Namibian airline that offers local and regional flights from Namibia. The airline is based at Windhoek-Eros and Windhoek-Hosea Kutako airports and flies to over 5 destinations across Namibia and South Africa.
The airline is owned by Westair Aviation and launched under the name FlyWestair in 2019. In 2021, FlyWestair rebranded to FlyNamibia, which is the name that the airline flies under today. Along with the rebrand, FlyNamibia announced the launch of new routes, flying to popular Namibian safari destinations.
FlyNamibia is currently the only active Namibian airline. This makes it one of the top choices for flights into the country. Although the airline doesn't fly directly to Namibia from many other countries, it connects Namibia with Cape Town and Johannesburg, which are both gateways into Africa for the rest of the world.
FlyNamibia gives a free carry-on baggage allowance and free checked baggage allowance on all of its flights. Read below to find out the limits for each type of baggage.
The airline gives a free carry-on baggage allowance of 1 piece per passenger. This bag must weigh no more than 7 kg.
The airline gives a free checked baggage allowance of 9kg or 20kg. This differs depending on the route that you fly.
Most international routes allow for a free checked baggage allowance of 20kg, with other routes allowing for a free checked baggage allowance of 9kg.
FlyNambia only has one class fare — Economy Class.
Economy Class offers a comfortable and relaxed way to fly. Within Economy, there are 4 different fares that you can purchase:
Each fare gives you a different level of flexibility for changing and cancelling your ticket, with Saver giving virtually no flexibility and Premium giving the most.
Seats are comfortable with trays attached and cushioned headrests.
Passengers are able to check in either online or at the airport, check-in times vary depending on flight length.
You can check-in through the FlyNamibia online check-in page. This will take you to the airline home page. To check-in, all you need to do is click on the 'check-in' tab and enter your booking reference and last name.
You can also check-in at the airport by visiting one of the airline check-in desks at the airport of departure.
Airport check-in opens 2 hours before flight departure time for regional/international flights and 1 hour before departure for domestic flights.
Airport check-in closes 50 minutes before flight departure time for regional/international flights and 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights.
The airline doesn't have a frequent flyer programme that is currently active. It was looking to launch a programme in 2020. However, plans were put on hold due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
It's unknown at this time whether FlyNamibia will resume plans to launch a programme. They didn't mention anything about a new frequent flyer programme when they rebranded in 2021.
FlyNamibia isn't a member of any airline alliance. However, it does increase its connectivity through a codeshare/interline agreement with FlyNamibia. This allows you to book connecting flights on both carriers under the same itinerary, without having to worry about missed connections.
FlyNamibia flies to several destinations across Namibia and South Africa, including Windhoek, Rundu, Ondangwa, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Airlink and British Airways are the only 2 airlines that fly similar routes to FlyNamibia. These airlines both connect Namibia with South Africa. There are currently no other airlines that fly regularly scheduled domestic within Namibia.

FlyNamibia also has an international hub at Windhoek-Hosea Kutako Airport (WDH), which it uses to connect Namibia with the rest of Africa.
Windhoek Eros Airport is small, with 1 terminal building and 2 small runways. FlyNamibia is currently the online airline that offers regular passenger flights to and from the airport.
The airlines fleet consists of a mix of small planes that it uses for charter/safari flights and larger planes that it uses for its regularly scheduled regional and international flights.
Within its fleet, FlyNamibia has Embraer, Beechcraft, Piper and Cessna planes.
