Fly Tiwi is an Australian airline based in Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory. The airline operates about 50 scheduled passenger flights a week, between Darwin and communities located on the Tiwi, South Goulburn and Croker islands, as well as a number of remote communities in the northern region of Arnhem Land. As well as scheduled flights, the airline also operates freight and private charter flights.
Fly Tiwi was founded in 2008 and is owned by the Hardy Aviation group — a Territory owned and operated company which was established in 1991 and is Australia's largest general aviation company. The airline was established in association with the Tiwi Land Council.
The first routes operated by the airline were Darwin to Nguiu, on Bathurst Island, and Pirlangimpi/Milikapiti, on Melville Island. Fly Tiwi expanded in 2009 to serve the remote communities of Warruwi and Minjilang, on South Goulburn and Croker Island, and to Ramingining, in Arnhem Land. Since then, services have been extended further to Lake Evella and Milingimbi.
Did you know? Since 2010, Fly Tiwi has been a major sponsor of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club, flying the team to Darwin to compete in the Northern Territory Football League competition each year!

Fly Tiwi has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage policy, with the option to buy additional excess baggage.
The free checked baggage allowance is 15kg per person. Please note that, while every effort will be made to carry all baggage, due to weight and space limitations the airline cannot guarantee that all baggage will travel on the same aircraft as the departing passenger. In that instance, the baggage will be transported on the next departing flight.
For safety reasons, passengers are only permitted to carry-on a single bag or handbag into the cabin. The maximum dimensions of the handbag/bag are 40cm x 30cm x 23cm. Passengers can also bring other small items, such as an overcoat or umbrella, into the aircraft cabin. But combined, the total weight of all carry-on baggage permitted for each passenger is 3kg.
Passengers can pay an excess baggage charge for additional baggage (over the 15kg allowance). But please note that the airline cannot guarantee that this excess baggage will travel on the same departing flight as the passenger. To make the most of the complementary baggage allowance, families or passengers travelling as a party on the same aircraft may pool their baggage.
The airline only offers standard seating. There are a maximum of 10 seats on the aircraft. Flights are short, during which passengers can enjoy stunning views of the landscape below. Facilities are limited during the flight, so it is recommended that passengers make the most of the facilities available at the airport before they depart, including the use of W/C facilities and the purchase of snacks.
Fly Tiwi passengers can only check-in at the airport.
Online check-in is not currently available.
Airport check-in closes 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure.
It is recommended to arrive as early as possible, to ensure your baggage is checked-in.
The airline does not have a frequent flyer program.
