Fly Lankan is a proposed airline based at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. Fly Lankan plans to operate domestic flights using 2x RJ100 aircraft and international flight services will start with two A330-200 and one A330-300. Over time Fly Lankan will look at expanding its cargo and passenger fleet size.
In November 2021, Fly Lankan announced that the start-up airline plans to commence services in January 2022. The airline would initially begin with cargo operations and later on, it would operate passenger flights.
Baggage policies differ on flights with Fly Lankan - checked and carry-on have different regulations.
On international flights, Fly Lankan lets you bring one piece of carry-on baggage, weighing no more than 7kg.
Carry-on baggage must fit in the overhead lockers and under the seat in front. No prohibited items should be in carry-on baggage instead they must be stored in the checked baggage unless the item is banned by the destination country. Prohibition items found by airport security or by the immigration department upon the arrival airport could be removed and disposed of.
Prohibited items must be kept in checked baggage, including any fluid over 100ml. If passengers were to travel with any fluid, it must be within 100ml and packed within a plastic bag for airport security check.
On international flights, Fly Lankan allows you to bring 50kg worth of checked baggage.
On domestic flights, Fly Lankan will allow you to bring 30kg worth of checked baggage.
Baggage exceeding the baggage allowance is subject to extra fees.
Fly Lankan hasn't announced how many cabin classes it will offer.
On international passenger flights, seats are configured with a single class of service with a 32” seat pitch. The seat will allow enough space for you to stretch your legs and enjoy a comfortable journey.

Fly Lankan only offers its passengers airport check-in.

Alternative Airlines advises that you arrive at least 3 hours prior to your flight departure time. Please ensure that you allow enough time to arrive at the airport.

Fly Lankan will offer meals during long-haul and medium-haul flights. There will also be a number of food and drinks that you can purchase at any point during the flight. If you have any special dietary requirements please contact Fly Lankan at least 48 hours prior to your flight departure time so the airline can accommodate to your needs.
