The US Open (also known as the US Open Tennis Championships) is a hardcourt tennis tournament held every year in Flushing Meadows, New York City, United States. It is the 4th and final Grand Slam event of the year, following the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.
Established in 1881, the US Open is the oldest of the four Grand Slam tournaments. It was originally an all-amateur event however professionals were allowed to compete from 1968. This is the main competition featuring the top professional players. It usually begins on the second Monday after Labor Day (which falls on 2nd September 2024) and lasts for 2 weeks.
Qualifying:
The qualifying rounds are held the week before the main draw to determine the final players who will compete in the main tournament.
The first week focuses on the early rounds of the singles and doubles competitions.
The second week features the later stages including quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
Each day has multiple sessions with matches spread across different courts.
