Terminals

The main terminal building at Des Moines International Airport is comprised of two levels. The lower level features the ticket counters and baggage area, while the upper level leads to two concourses: Concourse A and Concourse C.

  • Concourse A: Concourse A has gates A1-A5 and is used by Allegiant Air, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and United Express.
  • Concourse C: Concourse C has gates C1-C7 and is used by American Airlines, American Eagle, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, and Frontier Airlines.

How to get to Des Moines International Airport

By Taxi and Shuttle

Taxis can be picked up from the ground transportation area and are available 24 hours. All taxis are metered. Executive Express, which is a local shared-ride shuttle service, has a service counter in the airport, which can be found near the rental car counters at the north end of the baggage claim area. Many of the local hotels also provide a free airport transportation service to guests.


By Bus

Des Moines Area Regional Transit operates a local bus, number 8, between the airport and the city centre. The journey takes 20 minutes and the fare is $1.75.


Car Hire

Car hire companies have desks located in the baggage claim area. Companies include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.


Parking

There are multi-storey short and long term car parks located opposite the terminal building. There is also an economy car park near the terminal, with a 24-hour shuttle bus which connects it to the airport.
