Kalandula Falls

Kalandula Falls is a magnificent waterfall situated in Kalandula, Angola. At a staggering height of just over 100 metres, it's one of the largest waterfalls by volume in the entire continent of Africa.

Kalandula Falls is a challenge to get to, requiring a 6-7 hour journey by car (preferably 4x4) from Luanda. We suggest booking accommodation in Kalandula first, then visiting Kalandula Falls the next day. It only takes 7 minutes to reach the waterfalls from Kalandula.

The best time to see Kalandula Falls is from February to April - this is when the water flow is at its peak and most impressive.

Iona National Park

Iona National Park is the largest and oldest protected area in Angola, spanning over 15,200 square km in the southwestern Namibe Province.

Within the park, you'll be able to admire Angola's unique flora, including the Welwitschia mirabilis, and fauna, such as oryx, springboks and cheetahs.

The closest town to the park is Lubango - you can fly to Lubango from Luanda with TAAG Angola Airlines. The best way to experience the park is through a guided tour that is familiar with the region.

Lubango is the capital of the Huila Province in southwestern Angola. It's located high up in the valley of the Huila Plateau, enjoying a temperate climate and refreshing change to Angola's coastal regions.

In Lubango, you'll want to see the Christ the King Statue, a 30-metre-tall white marble statue inspired by Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer, and the Tundavala Gap, a geological wonder with popular hiking and sightseeing trails.
