  • Do bring walking shoes — You'll be doing a lot of walking in Lisbon. Since the city resides on several hills, you'll have to climb plenty of steep staircases. It's therefore necessary that you have comfortable shoes that have a good grip and won't blister your feet.
  • Do be aware of pickpockets — Unfortunately, Pickpockets are present in most global cities, and Lisbon is no exception. Keep valuables tucked away and secure, especially in crowded areas or public transport.
  • Do tip if you want to — Lisbon doesn't have a socially mandatory tipping culture, but one in which people will choose to tip if they appreciate the service they've received. The standard tip in Lisbon is 10% of your bill.
