AIrlines of Peru to get new Government backed competitor

In his inaugural address the new President of Peru announced the establishment of a new Peruvian national carrier to fly to international destinations not currently served by the independent carriers. The yet-to-be-named airline will compete with Peru's established carriers including indigenous ones like Star Peru, LC Busre and Peruvian airlines plus  internationally owned airlines like TACA Peru and LAN Peru. We love hearing about new airlines starting-up and a new one with Government backing is a special occasion. Couple this with last month's exciting news that the plucky Peruvian airlines (see the attractive colour scheme on the attached photo) has been granted permissions to fly to 27 countries inside and outside of Latin America and Peru looks like an air travel market on the up. Macchu Picchu may be a site that past its sell-by date for serious travellers, but there are oh so many other sites in Peru which are undiscovered and equally unique..  a country worth visiting soon !

News about Southern Africa flights

It's an amazing beautiful part of the world and if you don't fall in love with Southern Africa then you have no romance in your soul !
But yes, it's often a frustrating place to travel within, regional services don't have the punctuality records of European or US carriers and the unexpected occurrence (aircraft commandeered for President, tyres flat on re-fuelling truck, animals on the runway etc.) is always to be expected. So what's new this week ? Air Zimbabwe is grounded (again) due to striking pilots who haven't been paid; Air Botswana are dropping their Lusaka to Kasane service; South African Airways will hand their Jo'burg to Gaborone route to little sister, SAA Express; Lufthansa will soon launch a code-share service from Frankfurt to Lusaka, via Addis Ababa in co-operation with Ethiopian Airlines; Malawi is hit by violent protests so international aid is suspended; Air Namibia will get another N$1,2 billion over the next three years from the Government in yet another bail-out and the banning of LAM Mozambique from flying into Europe is criticised as being a protectionist move by Air France. I can't wait to go back ! (Use Alternative Airlines to book your flights, this is one part of the world where an expert flight booking will make a difference....)

Well done to Rwandair on the arrival of their new Boeing 737

Rwandair are to be congratulated on getting their first brand new Boeing 737-800 NG into service this weekend from their home base in Kigali to Johannesburg.

As a strong supporter of this dynamic airline we were invited to witness the arrival of the aircraft last Saturday but were unable to attend. However we are happy to extend our warmest congratulations to the hard working team at Rwandair for this major step in achieving their ambitious development plans.

For anyone who hasn't thought of visiting Rwandair and in particular Kigali we urge you to do so. Access to Kigali is being improved as more services operate from regional airports and the European link from Brussels using Brussels Airlines is in addition to the many ways of getting to Kigali through Nairobi.

Following the recent separation of scheduled service carrier Viking Hellas Airlines (VQ) and Charter operator Fly Hellas (VKH), Viking Hellas Airlines is pleased to announce its flying programme from Manchester.
