Air Sphinx is a new low-cost airline that is planned to commence operations in April 2022. Egyptian flag carrier EgyptAir announced plans to launch a new low-cost subsidiary, from April 2022 called 'Air Sphinx'. The new low-cost airline will initially focus on short-haul routes across Egypt and neighbouring countries using a fleet of 2 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The airline intends on basing its operations from Sphinx International Airport (SPX), an airport west of Cairo in Giza which has recently expanded by opening a new terminal building.
Air Sphinx baggage policy is yet to be released, as they are still in their start-up phase.
Air Sphinx hasn't yet published its intended baggage policy. However, it may be likely that you will be allowed to bring 1 small personal item onboard.
The airline has similarly not announced its checked luggage policy. As the airline is operating as a low-cost airline it may be likely that luggage doesn't come as standard and will need to be purchased additionally.
Air Sphinx hasn't yet published the intended cabin configuration. However, as the airline will be a low-cost airline it is likely that an all-economy cabin layout will be selected. A standard economy class seat on the aircraft type with other carriers range from 30-34" in pitch with 17" of width. A similar seat design may be offered by Air Sphinx. It isn't expected that the airline will offer inflight entertainment including Wifi or USB or charging outlets.
It is currently unknown if the airline will provide inflight entertainment or Wifi facilities. However, as the airline will be a low-cost airline this may be unlikely.
The airline hasn't yet specified its intended onboard meal service. However, as the airline plans on operating under the low-cost model, it may be expected that the airline won't provide complimentary drinks and snacks and will instead offer a buy onboard service.
As Air Sphinx is still in their start-up phase, information around their check-in policy has yet to be released. We will update this page as soon as more details get confirmed.
Air Sphinx doesn't currently have a website so it is unsure if they will offer online check-in. It remains unknown if the airline will have its own website or if they will use parent company, EgyptAir's reservations and online check-in facilities.
If you choose not to check-in online before arriving at the airport then you can head to one of the airline's check-in desks to do so. The airline doesn't state the opening and closing times of their check-in facilities, however, we recommend arriving at the airport no later than 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.
Air Sphinx hasn't yet announced whether they will offer a frequent flyer program. As the airline will operate as a low-cost carrier this may not be offered. However, as Air Sphinx will be a subsidiary of EgyptAir it may be likely that the airline will adopt the 'EgyptAir Plus' loyalty program.
It is unsure if the airline will be a member of any airline alliance, however, as it is a subsidiary of EgyptAir, the airline may be an affiliate member of Star Alliance.
As of February 2022, Air Sphinx hasn't yet announced its intended route map. However, the airline intends to operate short-haul services from Sphinx International Airport.

Sphinx International Airport is an airport located to the west of Cairo in Giza. Currently, no airlines operate to the airport. Previously EgyptAir Express did offer services to the airport but suspended these in 2019. Fly Jordan later operated a test flight from Jordan to the airport but never formally began routine operations. The airport has undergone expansion and modernisation to increase its capacity from 2020. Air Sphinx will be the only airline to operate to and from the airport for the foreseeable future and will act as the airline's hub airport.
Upon the launch of services, Air Sphinx will operate a fleet of 2 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
